All American Marine: Maximizing Potential and Optimizing Production with MultiCam
All American Marine is a manufacturer of custom aluminum vessels, based in Bellingham, Washington. The company designs and builds specialist including large commercial and research boats, tour vessels, and ferries - primarily serving the U.S. maritime market.
In 2008, the company made a strategic investment in its first MultiCam 5000 to address increasing demand for more custom and challenging materials in the manufacturing of its vessels, which at the time had to be cut manually.
In today’s boatbuilding world, manufacturers are working with large, thick aluminum panels that require precision and power to process efficiently. As demand increased for vessels built from this durable material, Ron Wille, President and COO of All American Marine, recognized the need for a more reliable, in-house solution. Outsourcing had introduced recurring issues: inconsistent quality, production delays, and additional labor to correct errors, none of which aligned with the company’s high standards or production goals. Determined to gain control over the process, Ron began the search for a CNC cutting solution tailored to their specific workflow and material requirements. That’s when Advanced Manufacturing Solutions (ACS) in Ferndale, WA, led by CEO Ron Rankin, stepped in. As MultiCam’s trusted regional distributor, ACS brought technical expertise and hands-on support to guide All American Marine in selecting the optimal CNC router for their needs.
Thanks to ACS’s deep understanding of advanced industrial manufacturing sector and commitment to customer success, All American Marine implemented a dual MultiCam 5000 Series CNC router that delivers precise, repeatable results, and scales seamlessly with the demands of modern boatbuilding.
After a successful experience with the first MultiCam 5000, Ron was confident in investing in a second MultiCam unit, relieving pressure on the internal team and enabling production to run at full speed.
This investment has enabled the company to enhance its performance, increase overall productivity and eliminate bottlenecks with just one router.
By using the MultiCam and the router cutter, we’ve been able to speed up our process, increasing overall production and cutting items and fulfilling work that previously we wouldn’t have been able to outsource.
With production now well underway, the company was able to expand production, eventually purchasing a second MultiCam machine.
Today, all American Marine has successfully built various boats across the entirety of the USA, as well as the first hydrogen fuel cell powered ferry in the country, which is now deployed and operating in San Francisco.
Overall, both Ron and the wider team are extremely satisfied with the MultiCam investment and its performance. It has significantly reduced manual labor, leading to a noticeable boost in motivation throughout the team.
With the MultiCam, we can now go above and beyond, and, after recognizing what the machine is actually capable of, we started using it to expand upon our own capabilities.
