Productivity that keeps you ahead of the game: Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems and MultiCam at PRINTING United 2026
September 15, 2026
Across North America, print and packaging businesses are navigating rising demand, shorter lead times and increasing job complexity - all while managing labor shortages and pressure to diversify into new applications.
As these pressures build, many producers are finding that their existing finishing setups can’t keep pace - especially when juggling multiple jobs, more substrates, structural variation and customised orders.
In this environment, the need for equipment and a long-term industry partner that can scale operations, maintain accuracy and support diversification and wider business growth has become central to staying competitive. Here we highlight the path from customers who used their equipment to take the next step into diversifying their operations for growth:
Grey Squirrel, a full service wide-format printing business based in New Jersey, invested in their first cutting equipment in 2019. As customer expectations grew and production volumes increased, the team needed faster and more precise cutting and finishing solutions to allow them to capitalize on growth opportunities. By adopting the Kongsberg C24 in 2025, they unlocked significantly higher cutting speeds, reduced manual labor and gained the accuracy required to expand confidently into packaging and routed work, expanding into new verticals.
In Canada, ProPrint faced similar pressures, with major brands demanding rapid sample turnaround and enhanced precision across a wider variety of materials. Their challenges were prominently focused on speed, consistency and labor efficiency. With the Kongsberg C64 and automated Feeder & Stacker, ProPrint transformed its workflow, producing full-size samples in minutes instead of days, reducing operator requirements and achieving die-cut-level accuracy at scale.
Together, these stories reinforce how automation, reliability and precision are becoming essential for North American manufacturers seeking to stay competitive in fast-moving markets. But, how are we striving to support our customers, in the US and beyond, to overcome these challenges?
Whether a signage, packaging or print producer, we’re driven by supporting and empowering businesses to achieve growth and remain competitive. Our experts work closely with customers to solve their specific challenges for growth, from enhancing production workflows to enabling diversification into new applications, while simplifying workflows and processes on the shop floor. By identifying where automation, accuracy and smarter workflow tools can make the biggest impact, we help businesses overcome obstacles and unlock stronger, more sustainable growth. It’s about adapting alongside them, ensuring they have the technology and support to evolve at the pace their markets demand.
At PRINTING United (September 23 – 25, Las Vegas Convention Center), Kongsberg will demonstrate how its digital cutting solutions are supporting customers to increase productivity, expand application capabilities and operate more efficiently across sign, display, and packaging.
Visitors will be able to get hands-on with the Kongsberg Ultimate, a high-performance digital cutting table for corrugated and display continuous high-volume, multi-batch production. The Ultimate gives businesses the flexibility to evolve with their business needs, while consistently delivering high-quality results. With the Roll Feeder attached, users can eliminate wrinkles, stretching and registration errors, ensuring precise cut quality from the first inch to the last. This added control helps converters boost throughput, reduce waste and avoid costly reprints in demanding digital finishing environments.
Visitors will also be able to discover the Kongsberg C series, which provides speed and versatility for different applications across signage, display, and protective packaging applications. The table will be showcased alongside the Smart Material Handler (SMH), a modular, sheet-handling semi-automated solution that reduces labor needs by 50%.
PRINTING United 2026 will also become the launch platform for MultiCam’s next-generation routing platform – featuring a powerful and easy-to-use system built to support production flexibility, scalability and future business growth.
Visitors will see live demonstrations of both the cutting and routing tables showcasing their speed, precision and versatility on both rigid and flexible materials.
